Information for Out-of-Town Patients
Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber’s photos, reputation and referrals from 1000’s of former patients have inspired many to make the trip to Albany, NY.
In search of the ideal plastic surgeon, many patients often look beyond their hometown, city or state in order to secure a specific doctor whose personal aesthetic sense and style closely matches their own. Traveling to have plastic surgery can be big decision for many, which is why we will do our best to ensure you have a safe, relaxing and successful experience from start to finish should you select Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber to perform your surgery.
Many patients who live more than 90 to 120 minutes away from Albany, NY find it easier to spend the night in town instead of driving home after surgery and driving back a day or two later for their 1st post-op appointment. Out-of-state and out-of-country patients typically stay in Albany anywhere from 3 to 14 days, depending on the surgery performed and how many days after surgery their 2nd post-operative appointment needs to be. More extensive surgeries like tummy tucks, tuberous breast correction and mommy makeovers typically require 8 to 14 days.
For patients traveling by plane, Albany International Airport is located just 4 miles from our office and 7 miles from St. Peter’s Surgery Center. Our staff can help arrange for airport pick up and transportation to and from our office for you pre-surgery checkups. We are also happy to help you sort out which short term or ‘extended stay’ hotel is best based on price and service quality.
After nursing 3 children and changes in body weight, I was left with very small, saggy breasts. I felt now was the time to enhance my breasts (which I’ve wanted to do for 22 years as I’ve always been on the small side). The question was which plastic surgeon. After several consultations with different surgeons, I felt Dr. DeLuca was the best surgeon for me. Not only did he take the time to explain everything, but I never felt rushed. Once I decided that this was the right decision for me, he was able to schedule my procedure quickly. His staff is remarkable. Very kind, nonjudgemental and efficient. After the surgery (which had a surprisingly quick and easy healing time) Dr. DeLuca was always available for any questions/concerns. I actually came in before my next scheduled appointment because of a concern. Not only did he address my concern, but he didn’t make me feel silly for my questions.
I would highly recommend Dr. DeLuca and his staff. In fact, I travelled 60 miles each way to take advantage of his great skill and service.*

Dr. DeLuca is a gifted artist who is able to see the beauty that is within you and reflect it back upon your imperfect outer form. Dr. DeLuca performed rhinoplasty in a way that naturally, and symmetrically fits my face. Also, he graciously fixed my gummy smile. No longer am I self conscious over these issues and feel free! The whole experience with his staff and St. Peter’s Surgery Center was hassle free as well as friendly and patient. Gloria, Dr. DeLuca’s secretary, helped make my dream become a reality. The 2 hour drive each way was time well spent! Thank you!*

Planning & Scheduling Your Cosmetic Procedure
In-office or Phone Consultation with DeLuca Plastic Surgery
For out-of-town patients, the process begins with either an in-office or phone consultation with Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber. If you can not make it to Albany for an in-office consultation, the next best option is to schedule a time for Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber to discuss with you by phone your surgery goals, answer any and all questions you have and offer his professional opinion as to what’s possible based on the photos you shared via email.
For in-person consultations, a detailed price quote will be provided following your discussion with Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber. For phone/virtual consultations, a detailed price quote will be sent via email shortly after Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber reviews your photos. Should you choose to proceed, our surgical secretary will work with you to schedule a convenient date and time for surgery. You will also be sent a comprehensive information booklet containing prep-op and post-op guidelines and a Lab Requisition for all required blood tests. Please note that all blood tests must be received prior to your travel and/or surgery date.
Pre-Surgery & Post-Surgery Schedule
Once you and Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber have decided on a tentative surgical plan, our Surgical Secretary will help you to coordinate all of your travel and surgical arrangements. She will also assist you with finding local accommodations near our office. A deposit for your procedure will be required to secure both your surgery date and pre- and post-op appointments. The balance can be paid anytime before you pre-surgery checkup & chat.
In most cases, patients arrive 1 or 2 days before surgery. New York State Law requires that every patient have someone stay with him/her the night after surgery, so if you will be traveling alone or do not have friends or family in the area, please let us know and we will help you secure post-op care and transportation.
For instance, here is a typical surgery and appointment schedule for an out-of-town breast augmentation patient:
- Day 1 – Pre-surgery examination, consultation and discussion
- Day 2 – Surgery Day
- Day 3 – 1st Post-surgery examination & checkup
- Day 7 – 2nd Post-surgery examination & checkup (required for all major procedures and usually scheduled 7 to 10 days after surgery)
Post-Operative Care and Recovery
In the weeks and months following your procedure, Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber will be available to you 24/7 via email or cell phone to address any concerns or questions you may have. Many patients find it helpful to send photos of their progress and recovery by email.
That said, Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber do prefer patients who are able to return for 2 long-term post-operative checkups. Ideally, the first checkup will take place 4-5 weeks and the 2nd 3-4 months following your procedure. Examinations conducted at both the 4-week and 3-4 month post-operation milestones enable Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber to more precisely assess how your body is recovering and in some cases, address minor issues that if left uncorrected, could lead to an avoidable complication.
If you can not make it back to Albany for a post-surgery checkup, Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber are able to communicate with you via email, telephone and/or Skype video conferencing. Of course, if at any time in the future should you return to Upstate New York, we would gladly welcome a follow-up visit in person.
The benefits to having your surgery performed at St. Peter’s Ambulatory Surgery Center in Albany, NY
The vast majority of DeLucaPlastic Surgery patients are able to have their surgery performed at St. Peter’s Ambulatory Surgery Center – which is located at 1375 Washington Avenue, Suite 201, Albany NY. Built in 2001, the Surgery Center is a Class A medical facility with on-site parking lot, relaxing waiting rooms and close proximity (directly next door) to 5 business class hotels. DeLuca Plastic Surgery prefers St. Peter’s Ambulatory Center for most of his cosmetic patients because:
• The surgery center only allows outpatient cosmetic and endoscopy surgery – this, together with state-of-the-art health rooms and manageable patient volumes greatly reduces the risk of nosocomial infection (any infection that’s a result of having a treatment in a hospital or healthcare service unit) for the surgery patient.
• There are several very excellent board certified anesthesiologists who have vast experience with same-day (re: “ambulatory”) surgery that Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber have worked with for years.
• Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber have their own tightly knit team of nurses that he has personally selected, trained and worked with for over 10 years. The benefits of having a talented and experienced team of nurses during surgery are immense and a big part of why DeLuca Plastic Surgery is able to provide a first-rate surgical experience that is regarded not only for the quality of aesthetic results but patient safety and comfort as well.
Of course, a first-class operating room won’t magically make a mediocre surgeon great. But for a first-rate plastic surgeon with a highly precise and minimally invasive surgical approach, a more effective, efficient and predictable surgery environment makes it possible for out-of-town patients to confidently schedule surgery and plan your return trip home in a predictable and safe manner.
Why DeLuca Plastic Surgery procedure prices are all-inclusive
No one enjoys or deserves surprises – especially with respect to health-related expenditures – which is why the price quote you’ll receive from DeLuca Plastic Surgery covers all possible expenses, including:
- Hospital fee
- Anesthesiologist’s fee
- Surgeon’s fee
- Implant cost
- All pre- and post-operative appointments
For a more precise quote, you will need to email us photos along with a description (and/or example photos) of what you’d like to look like after surgery. Please use either the Out-of-town Patient Form, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at 518-724-2444.
If you don’t have photos to send us just yet, please use our regular “Consultation Request Form” (which is located above). By sending along photos, Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber can provide you with more precise surgical recommendations, recovery times, cost estimates and what a final result should look like. Most preliminary discussions can be conducted via email and/or phone.
As a surgical scrub, I have had the privilege of working side by side with Dr. DeLuca for the past nine years and have seen first hand the kind of Doctor and person that he is. Simply put, Dr. DeLuca, defines the word “gentleman”. As a physician, he is impeccable in his care and concern for his patients. He is meticulous and gifted in his skills as a surgeon and was easily my choice when I myself, had plastic surgery.
Dr. DeLuca’s professionalism, attention to detail and exceptional skills in the operating room surpasses all others. As a patient and professional co-worker I would (and do) recommend all of my family and friends to him.*

As someone who may be younger than some of Dr. DeLuca’s patients (26), I was a little intimidated and nervous about the process. My double chin had always been an issue. After much discussion with my mother I decided on visiting Dr. DeLuca. Dr. DeLuca and wonderful staff (especially Gloria!) made not only myself, but my mother feel that we had made the right choice.
Dr. DeLuca was thorough in explaining what could, and then would be done. Taking me through each step, clearly and so that I could become assured, calm and confident in my decision. The weeks leading up the surgery, Dr. DeLuca, Gloria and the staff were on top of every process. Even the wonderful ladies at the surgery center made me feel at ease, not rushed, so that I wasn’t just “another” surgery on their schedule.
The day of the surgery went by fast and without a hitch. The pain was minimal and the recovery time, was just like Dr. DeLuca predicted – under a week! I almost didn’t want to believe him, but within a week I was back at work, and loving my new chin/neck.
The work Dr. DeLuca preformed and the confidence it gave me – to project myself into the world – is something I wouldn’t trade away. I feel and see that in the way that I carry myself now, at work and in my personal life and how I (finally!) pose for pictures! Dr. DeLuca is a wonderful surgeon, but the way that not only he, but his entire staff puts you at ease and makes you feel at home with them – while maybe a minor reason to some – was a big one for me and the reason why I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone!*
